Bungalow Beach Resort is In The News!

  • September 2000 - Bungalow Beach Resort Unveils Its New Look

Owners Bert and Gayle Luper are pleased to unveil the stunning results of a year-long renovation project at the Bungalow Beach Resort which has brought new comfort and enhanced the charm of this 1930s-era beachfront property.

With more than $200,000 invested in the project, the Lupers went all out to decorate each room with the finest in new wall coverings, curtains, bed linens, and furnishings. All of the rooms received new mattresses, and several were outfitted with whirlpool tubs. No detail has been overlooked, and the results are truly amazing.

The Lupers' hard work seems to have earned the approval of both guests and travel industry experts alike. The Bungalow Beach Resort has been listed for two consecutive years in the Best Places to Stay in Florida guidebook and was selected for several editions of Frommer's Florida 2001 series. The resort has been reviewed by many travel publications, including Southern Living Magazine, the Discerning Traveler, Upscale Magazine, Mature Lifestyles, Delightfully Different Travel Guidebooks, the Tampa Bay Business Journal and the Miami Herald. Bungalow Beach earned a 96% ranking from the Superior Small Lodging Association and served as the picturesque setting for a recent photo shoot for Eddie Bauer catalogs.

Bungalow Beach Resort is truly one of the gems of Anna Maria Island. Situated directly on the Gulf of Mexico, the resort offers a private beach, two heated swimming pools and lushly landscaped grounds with gazebo. A wide range of accommodations provides ample space for any size group or family. Choose from a quaint pool-side studio, courtyard one- two- and three-bedroom bungalows, a deluxe gulf-front studio or the spacious Island House suite. Most rooms include a private deck or screened porch and are tastefully appointed with floral and wicker accents to compliment the island atmosphere.

Discerning guests at the resort will appreciate its unique architectural details. Originally built in the 1930s, the Bungalow Beach retains the classic charm of that bygone era with carefully preserved details such as skylights, cathedral wood-beamed ceilings, hardwood floors and French doors. The historic city of Anna Maria offers plenty of diversions for visitors of all ages, including plenty of shopping, golf, museums, attractions, and casual and fine dining.
