ANNA MARIA ISLAND -- Bungalow Beach Resort, owned by Bert & Gayle
Luper, was one of only two hotels in Manatee County chosen for a
new tourism commercial, produced by the Bradenton Area Conventions
and Visitors Bureau (BACVB).
Shot primarily in black and white, the video is themed around "Old
Florida" and uses the catch-phrase "Restore Your Soul." Production
crews visited Bungalow Beach in mid-November and even used some
staff members in their filming, including resort general manager
Cory Huffman, and operations manager Alta Schlemmer.
The video is part of the FLA/USA marketing campaign and will air
throughout the coming year in targeted markets in Ohio, Pennsylvania,
Illinois, Indiana, New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.
According to BACVB marketing manager Susan Stoepker, Bungalow Beach
Resort was selected because of its 1930s vintage charm and architectural
style. "Bungalow Beach Resort has the type of look that is very
much in keeping with our theme for the spot," she said. "Plus, it
is a well-known property in our county and represents us very well."
Other local spots chosen for the project included Bridge Street
Pier, Bean's Point, Mar Vista Restaurant, and the Hilton Inn at
Longboat Key.
